Manzanar

Mom was cleaning..and found this Manzanar project I did in 4th Grade! Well, it was really dusty, and although we took photos a long time ago, when I did this, it was on film, not digital..so we dusted it off and then I took photos (actually, i threw it away, and then we thought of taking photos...so after glueing it together...I took photos).....

My Grandpa was sent to Manzanar when he was 5 years old. His mom and dad were both sent there, after Pearl Harbor was bombed on December 7th 1941. He was first sent to Santa Anita, for sorting, and then his family was taken to the desert near Mount Whitney to Manzanar. It was a very sad chapter in the history of the United States. Over 30,000 Japanese AMERICANS were shipped off without due process to camps to be isolated from America. They told the Americans that this was for their safety. But they suspected these thousands of Americans of being spies for the Japanese Armies. My grandpa had never been to Japan, and his mother was an American citizen. She was born in Long Beach, CA, in 1914. My great Grandpa was from Hiroshima, but came to the US in 1921, during the depression. He worked hard, growing flowers (carnations) and wasn't military or a spy for anyone.
My Grandma was sent to Gila. She was almost sent back to Japan, but they ended up staying in Ca...

New Lens to use at games!

Well....I got a new lens..and wow does it make a difference!
Look at this sign all the way across the court! I can get this close to it now!

This is using the "OLD" lense, which is a regular lense, for taking normal photos..I can't get up close, and I think this is the closest I can get to the game.

Now with the NEW lense, I can get closer to the players. You can see how much better you get shots!

This was a short time Tori played in the game. She didn't play long, but....we were losing anyways.
You can see Carly Lindley in the back..she's number 5 for Poly High School.

This is Tori guarding this girl. She was

tall, fast and Good!

Back into Basketball

It was a hard game, and they were behind 13 points at one time and it looked bleak.
But they all pulled through as a team and make a very rough game turn into a hard fought win.
The score was 42-41 against Lakewood. Everyone pulled in and made good plays and key baskets to win their first game. It was hard after their first 2 losses against Cabrillo and Jordan High School.

Dear Teacher....

Dear Teacher...
I would love to turn in my homework,
I really find it fun
I sit and clear my desk to work
to complete it and get it done
I have no time for play
I diligently make the time
I wish it could last all day
so I can't spend a dime
But when I sit down and do it
from top to bottom and still
My friend my cat comes to sit
he goes against my will
He wants all my attention
from morning noon and night
He stays and wants to be petted,
rubbed and brushed until
He gets hungry and then he leaves
me covered with his fur

yes, this is really my cat, and he says I can't do my homework.....

Filming on our Street!

Today, they are filming a commercial for SNICKERS on our street, almost in front of our house!

They have tons of people standing and moving and working...getting ready for shots of the truck to go through the house. I missed most of the action (at the gym) but got the before and after shots!

Yes, it is supposed to be MR. T...but it is a stand in. There was a 'dummy' Mr T who was in the truck when it crashed through the house, but then this guy is there for the truck to chase after people on the street and shoot.....

snickers bars at them......
